The digital platform 'Settling on the Sandbar: The Fort, City and Citizens of Zeelandia in 17th-century Formosa' represents the culmination of the NCKU Museum's endeavors in executing the '5G Application for Museums and Art, Phase 1 and Phase 2' project of Ministry of Culture. Moreover, it serves as a esponse to the 2024 'Tainan 400' series of theme events spearheaded by the Tainan City Government. In 1624, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) set up a trading post in ayouan (now Anping, Tainan), initiating Taiwan's participation in global trade. With the Fort and City of Zeelandia being planned and constructed, Tainan saw the tarting point of its development. The digital platform showcase the research findings of Associate Professor Huang En-Yu's team from the Department of Architecture at NCKU, along with Dr. Cheng Wei-Chung, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Taiwanese History, Academia Sinica. Previously exhibitions, namely 'Settling on the Sandbar: The Fort, City and Citizens of Zeelandia in 17th-century Formosa' and '1643 Zeelandia VR: Fort, City and Citizens ,' curated by the NCKU Museum, concluded due to the museum renovation project. Nonetheless, through this digital platform, the contents of these exhibitions have been meticulously reorganized and presented in a digital milieu.
